Columbia records announced today the signing of a record deal with Atlanta’s very own Christian rapper or rapper that is Christian (whichever suits you), Lecrae.

Lecrae’s deal with the major record label is in conjunction with his co-owned label, Reach Records.

Lecrae started his main stream journey from the release of his first Church Clothes mixtape  in 2012, Lecrae premiered the video for a track off the Mixtape “Church Clothes”. The video was noted for including cameos by Kendrick Lamar and DJ Premier, and attracted almost 20,000 views in less than a day.

After the success of his first mixtape, Lecrae also released his sixth studio album “Gravity” in September 2012 . Lecrae then went  on and released his second mixtape Church Clothes 2 in November 2013.

In September 2014, Lecrae released  his seventh studio album “Anomaly” which had songs like All I need is You which earned  a Grammy nomination in 2015 for Best Rap Performance.

Lecrae has two grammy awards in his career so far and has shared stages with Kendrick Lamar, Common and J. Cole He has also headlined his own spate of tours.
